The International 2025 is on the horizon, and while the atmosphere is bubbling with hype for the Battlepass, Valve once again dropped a new (mini) in-game event that no one expected. They presented the Dota 2 community with Quatero’s Curios this time – a new feature that allows players to work their way towards a new skin. Every match played will be counted, even Turbos, regardless of the outcome. Although this is not what the Dota 2 community expected, we’ll need to work with what we’ve got for now.
You might be wondering what exactly is this Quatero’s Curios event in Dota 2? Well, don’t worry, we’ve got you covered. First off, Quatero’s Curios is not the Battlepass, and it’s free for everyone. Every player will receive three new Dota 2 skins through the event. Moreover, if you’re fortunate enough, you could even receive a new arcana from this event.
Quatero’s Curios came along with the arrival of the new patch 7.39d in Dota 2. It offers players some new in-game cosmetics. Among these rewards, it also includes visual effects for the in-game items like Blink Dagger, Eul’s Scepter, and Town Portal Scroll. If one takes a close look, these visual effects are similar to that of the Dota 2 BattlePass, if not the same. However, the highlight of this event is the exclusive skins for Witch Doctor, Legion Commander, and Vengeful Spirit.
To earn these rewards, players will just have to play Dota 2. Ranked, Turbo, and Unranked All Pick all count towards the event progress in different ways. A ranked and unranked all-pick will award players with 650 XP points, and a loss will award players with 250 XP points. However, Turbo mode will give significantly fewer points, such as 425 XP points for a win and 175 XP points for a loss. Players will need 1000 XP to advance from one level to another in every Quatero’s Curios level in Dota 2.
You might be wondering whether there’s a way to level up faster in Quatero’s Curios in Dota 2. For that question, we might have some working theories. Normal matches may look like the fastest route to level but Turbo matches are a good way too. Dota 2 Patch 7.39d is fresh, and players are still finding out the meta heroes. Moreover, a “normal match” in Dota 2 usually takes around an hour, if you are an average player. Thus, winning only two normal matches will advance you to the next Quatero’s Curios level in Dota 2. Nevertheless, it will drain your mental stamina a lot.
On the other hand, Turbo matches will give you 425 XP per win, but they have a much shorter game duration. This mode is also more fun, and even if you lose in Turbo, you will have time to go again. Although Turbo mode will need three wins for players to advance to the next Quartero’s Curios level in Dota 2, it is a much better choice for casual players.
To reach the maximum Quatero’s Curios level in Dota 2, players will need to win around 154 matches in normal game mode. For Turbo mode, players will need to win around 236 matches.

Antiques come with an inscription: “ Receive one of over one hundred previously released hero sets, with a small chance of getting an Immortal or Arcana.” However, there are only six Antiques available in this event, which means there’s a chance of players receiving an Arcana from the event, but it’s extremely slim.
Valve’s primary goal of this event seems to be to welcome the returning players just before The International 2025. It also helps them ease their return journey while enjoying the game with their friends and new players, which, after all, is what every Dota 2 game should be about.
