In classic survival MMO fashion, Dune: Awakening's items lose durability as you use them. And this time, it actually makes sense. The sand of Arrakis is infamous for destroying most things that come in contact with it, something the game portrays well through excellent voice recordings that you can find.
But what can you do about them? You'll have to be a bit patient at first, but you'll eventually reach a point in which you can fix them, so do not throw anything good away, even if it is broken. Here's how to repair items in Dune: Awakening.
To repair items in the game you need to craft a Repair Station in your base. The schematic cannot be unlocked from the get-go, though, as it is locked behind a Journey. Hence why we recommend focusing on Journeys as one of our Dune: Awakening Beginner Tips.
Getting access to the schematic requires completing the Maitenance Journey, which you'll automatically unlock once you reach Vermillius Gap. Craft the Repair Station and you'll now be able to repair items. There's a few things to keep in mind, though:
There are more things that you can repair, though.
The same Maintenance Journey will give you access to the Welding Torch MK1 schematic, which will let you repair your vehicles. Simply craft the torch, craft some Welding Wire using Salvage Metal, and scroll through the torch options until you reach repair. Point the torch at the damaged piece and hold it down until it is fully repaired.
You can also repair structures through the Construction Tool. Scroll down the options on the right-hand side until you reach repair and hold it down on a damage structure until it is fully repaired. Buildings can be damaged through explosions in PVP areas or by sandstorms if you run out of power to keep your base shield up.
As you progress through Dune: Awakening, you will unlock skills that make you better at repairing both items and vehicles. Here are the most important ones you can unlock:
As we previously pointed out, every repair causes max durability loss, which will eventually render any item useless, even if you invest into the aforementioned repair skills. Don't throw these items away, though.
If the items are Unique, first check if they're worth anything to merchants, most of them will net you a few Solari. For all others, throw them into the recycle so you can recover some of the resources you invested into them and use it to craft a new one.
Remember that Unique schematics have uses, though, so if you want to recraft a Unique item you might have to find its schematic again to do so. You can stack multiple schematics of the same Unique, so do keep that in mind during your Dune: Awakening playthrough.
