BetBoom Team are the PGL Wallachia Season 5 champions. They defeated the dominant Gaimin Gladiators in the grand final to win the fifth season of PGL Wallachia after an unprecedented lower bracket run and secure their third trophy this season.
BetBoom’s journey at PGL Wallachia Season 5 began on a jittery note, barely making it out alive in the group stage in last place. They started the playoffs with a stunning victory against Team Spirit in the first round, but dropped to the lower bracket in the next round against Team Liquid.
Then began the Eastern European team's unprecedented lower bracket run, as they handily defeated NAVI, Team Spirit, and Team Liquid to advance to the grand final, where Gaimin Gladiators patiently awaited them.
Both teams did not face each other throughout the tournament, thus making the grand final more exciting for viewers. But the odds were stacked in Gaimin’s favour, given their dominant performance throughout the event and unbeaten run in the playoffs.
BetBoom switched gears in the grand final and steamrolled Gaimin in the first two games, gaining an advantage over their Western European counterparts. Gaimin secured a win in the third game and inched closer to drawing the series, but BetBoom wasn’t in the mood to hand over their advantage and won the fourth game in a thrilling 65-minute series.
Thus, BetBoom Team defeated Gaimin Gladiators to win the PGL Wallachia Season 5.
It was a rough tournament for Team Liquid as they were unable to defend their throne. They played with a stand-in for the group stage of PGL Wallachia Season 5 for Insania and secured a place in the playoffs. Insania pushed through the playoffs despite being unwell and barely able to play, but as his condition worsened, Liquid was forced to bring in another stand-in.
Ultimately, that led to Liquid’s elimination from the tournament and ended up securing a third-place finish in the tournament. Tobi stood in during the group stage, while Ari stood in during the lower bracket final, where Team Liquid ended up losing to the eventual winner,s BetBoom Team.
