Dune: Awakening's skill progression starts off quick, but then slows down by requiring you to complete contracts with trainers in order to unlock stronger levels of skills.
None are stronger than the three final options in each class tree in the game. Whether they are defensive or offensive options, they will considerably change how you play the game. Here are the best Capstone Skills in Dune: Awakening.
Captstone Skills are the hardest ones you can unlock in Dune: Awakening, but they're also the strongest. To unlock these skills you need to complete the basic training first (for all classes that you didn't start as), do the first Advanced Training to unlock the second level of skills, and then the second Advanced Trainer which will unlock the third level.
Following these three steps, completion of further contracts will unlock one Capstone at a time. So, to fully unlock all three Capstone Skills for a single class will require you to complete six contracts in total (five if you started as the class).
There are a total 15 Capstone Skills in Dune: Awakening, which we narrowed down to five, one from each class. Some of these choices will still highly depend on your playstyle, but others will be excellent for most players.
Requires Prescience. When enough spice permeates your bloodstream, you become able to combine your prana-bindu training with your limited ability to see the future. After a successful parry, dart and blade attacks pass through you. Activates when Spice Prescient.
The leftmost Capstone Skill in the Bene Gesserit tree is our first choice for one of the best in Dune: Awakening. Useful for any and all players (even those who prefer ranged combat will be rushed by melee enemies), the Bindu Dodge makes you immune to all kinds of damage following a parry.
This means that you can safely shoot without worrying about temporarily losing your shield, or ignore melee attackers for a short duration. An extremely powerful skill.
You have been trained in the use of the Hunter-Seeker, a specialized assassination device used to kill enemies without causing alarm. You pilot a thin sliver of metal that, when it strikes, burrows inside the arteries of the enemy and causes them incredible pain and often, instant death. You are vulnerable while piloting the device. Abilities must be equipped and activated from the ability bar.
Our second best Capstone skill is in the middle of the Mentat tree. It is an active ability, so it will take one of your three precious slots, but it is worth it when engaging in combat. Sneak isn't really a thing in Dune: Awakening, even though you can sometimes take down an enemy without alerting others, if you have enough damage to one-shot when with a melee strike.
With the Hunter-Seeker, sneak becomes a reliable option. Using this ability will allow you to manually pilot a seeker that will one-shot most enemies in the game, without making any noise. You will be vulnerable while piloting it, though, which makes its use dangerous in active combat scenarios.
When you focus your efforts, you can reduce the power drain of every action that you take. Techniques only take effect when equipped.
Power Usage: -3%/-6%/-9% based on skill level.
Despite being mostly focused on exploration and farming, the Planetologist class has one tree that can be useful in combat, which is the Scientist one. Its capstone skill, Conservation of Energy, is a Technique that reduces your power usage.
This is indeed useful in exploration, allowing you to get much more juicy out of whatever Power Pack you are using, but it will also help in combat. Less power consumption means that you can use your belt for mobility without worrying that you are running out of energy for your shield. A skill that's useful for every single Dune: Awakening player.
Requires Prescience. When your blood is infused with mélange, your parries expose additional weaknesses in the defense of your enemies. Their ability to mitigate damage is decreased.
Enemy Damage Mitigation: -10%/-15%/-20% based on skill level.
Our Swordmaster Capstone skill is incredibly powerful by itself, but becomes even more so when paired with the Bindu Dodge. Precise Parry is also a passive skill which activates when you parry an attack.
Any successful parry will reduce the parried enemy's damage mitigation, essentially buffing your damage on then by 10/15/20%. Comboing this skill with the Bindu Dodge allows you to play much more aggressively, capitalizing on each parry by destroying the parried enemy, be it through melee or ranged combat.
You pop an energy capsule, which fills you with a concoction of neurostimulants and pain dampeners. You become detached allowing better targeting and ranged damage as well as reduced stamina cost when sprinting. Abilities must be equipped and activated from the ability bar.
The last best Capstone skill we want to highlight in Dune: Awakening is Energy Capsule, an active ability. You'll find it in the Trooper's Gunnery tree. It is one of the strongest skills in the game, but it will not be of much use for melee-only players.
Regardless, even melee-focused players will likely use ranged weapons for certain encounters, so it can still be useful for them. Energy Capsule buffs your ranged damage by a whopping 35% for 10 seconds, the biggest ranged damage buff you can find in the game.
