HEROIC may have been stomped by FaZe in their opening Stage 2 game, but they bounced back with a solid 13-9 display against BetBoom.
One of the teams that advanced from Stage 1 with a 3-0 record, there's a lot of expectations for HEROIC to go even further in the BLAST.tv Austin Major, and we caught up with LNZ after the game against BetBoom to see how he is feeling at the end of day one.
You've righted the ship and you're now 1-1, the vibes seem strong still, what's it like playing at the moment?
It's really fun, nothing really changed after the FaZe game even if it's a bit frustrating to lose like we did. But we have a good enough team culture and bond with each other to shrug it off and go next.
Is that something you will rely on going forwards?
Yeah, exactly. Everyone knows what will happen to our team after the event and so do we, so we're just focusing on what we can do and everybody wants to make it further in the Major whether they're going to be here next season or not.
Is it a case of just needing to get out of these BO1s where you can play the longer game and warm up into them if needed?
I think any match we just want to be in the moment, whether it's a BO1 or a BO3. BO1s are tougher, and you wish you had more room for errors, but it's going to be nice to play BO3s in a couple of days.
There's so many matches going on tonight and you won't know who you're going to play for a little bit, what's the important thing to do tonight? Is it preparing your own game rather than looking at potential opponents?
Yeah, we'll do the prep that we can with the time we have, but obviously we shouldn't only focus on what they are doing, we should focus on what we're doing.
And the expectations haven't changed at all despite experiencing your first loss here in Austin?
Exactly, my individual goal is to make playoffs and it will be tough, but I think we can do it if we focus on what we're doing and stay in the right mental.
