Nearly a full decade after it first became available to play in Alpha, Escape From Tarkov is on the verge of its full release. Battlestate Games have confirmed that the game will be officially released still during 2025, which leaves less than half a year left.
Here is all you need to know about Tarkov 1.0 release, including the most likely window in which it is coming, and what is expected to change.
Above is the updated Escape From Tarkov roadmap with all content coming in 2025. July 2025 brought with it the Hardcore Wipe, which came out on the 9th. With it came patch 0.16.8.0, which was relatively minor.
Only two steps are left in the roadmap: patch 0.16.9.0 and Tarkov 1.0 release. Unless things change, the next and final pre-release patch is coming sometime during August, which leaves us with four possible months for the 1.0 release.
According to the list featured in the roadmap, patch 0.16.9.0 will be massive, promising optimization to three maps, a seasonal change, a new in-game event, and a lot of other fixes.
Tarkov wipes never have a set duration, but they consistently stay within a very small range. Since early 2020, wipes have lasted between 180 and 220 days, with the biggest one being patch 0.14.0.0, released December 27, 2023. It lasted for 236 days, around 8 months.
There are 175 days between July 9th and December 31st, 2025. The shortest Tarkov wipe we've seen in the past five years was the one that came with patch 0.15.0.0, which lasted 128 days. With that in mind, and taking into account how massive the two next patches are likely to be, we wouldn't expect a release prior to December.
We should also take into account that no roadmap is written in stone, so a delay to early 2026 for Tarkov 1.0 release is still possible. Furthermore, between April and July of this year, the roadmap suffered quite a few changes, with multiple delays that considerably expanded the scope of patch 0.16.9.0.
At the time of writing this, a lot of information is known about Tarkov 1.0 full release. These things are always subject to change, but this is what Battlestate Games have confirmed so far:
BSG's plans have changed over the years, but one of the main points that they've kept harping on is that when Tarkov 1.0 comes out the transit system will be in full place, with the game being transformed into a sort of open world experience.
This seems to be the reinforced by the fact that the Hardcore Wipe had this system in place temporarily, but it was removed so quickly and suffered to much backlash that we're not sure if there will be any changes to the plan prior to the full release.
Do you think Tarkov 1.0 really is coming in 2025 or are you expecting a delay?
